View of the town & castle of St. Augustine
This map shows us many things about the early white settlers compared to the Native Americans. This scene takes place along the ocean coast with a channel leading in to what appears to be a battle field. The waterway passes a small island which seems to be an Indian settlement. Further down the channel is an English castle and behind the castle is an English town. There are many warships traveling the waterway and they are firing upon the Indian settlement. The Indians also appear to be attacking the ships as well as the town and castle. From the looks of this map, the white colonists clearly have the advantage. They are surrounding the Indian settlement and they also have ships that probably have cannons whereas the Indians are using sling shots or catapults. The white people appear to be the superior force in this map.
